Specific Position Requirements


*Contingent Performance Engineer for the Cotton Harvesting Product Verification and Validation (PV&V) Group. Job Description: This position is for a Performance engineer to support the verification of the function of parts and systems used on cotton harvesting equipment. Some but not all of the key tasks will include: • Plan, coordinate, conduct, and oversee full vehicle evaluations and field test activities of cotton harvesters. • Responsible for completing V2Nets through all phases of planning, execution, and reporting to closure. • Participate in, contribute to, and document design and EETS dispositioning reviews and assign necessary action items. • Assist in the shipping and tracking of test equipment, including machines, and office related tasks as required. • Become proficient in the safe operation and maintenance of cotton harvesters to aid in design reviews, tests, evaluations, and trouble shooting. • May use data acquisition equipment to measure hydraulic and air system flows and pressures, temperatures throughout the machine, mechanical stresses in structures, and to gather CAN bus information. • Report test results in a timely and clear manner; help in the definition and execution of any follow up testing. Required Skills and Experience: • Strong personal skills and the ability to work with farmers, customers, and cooperators to get work done. • Ability to work with others in a professional manner while unsupervised. • Strong technical report writing skills. • A working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and powertrain systems. • A knowledge of engineering theory and principles. • 4-year B.S. degree in engineering, technology, or equivalent experience. • Experience in working in a team environment and soliciting cooperation when needed. • SOME TRAVEL IS REQUIRED. Up to 30% travel required. Flexibility and ability to adapt regarding hours/travel/priorities * Safety shoes with metatarsal protection required. Desired Skills and Experience: • Farming experience. • Design experience with the design, development and/or test of mobile equipment, preferably agricultural harvesting equipment. • Experience with data acquisition tools and analysis. • Knowledge of the safe operation and maintenance of agricultural equipment. • Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical/electronically controlled components and systems. • A working knowledge of the CAN bus and how to extract information from it. • A working knowledge of advanced electronic systems used in agriculture for monitoring and tracking the harvest and post-harvest processing of product. • A working knowledge of the EETS system used within Deere for field test problem tracking. • A basic understanding of reliability and statistics.
