This job fully integrates an individual into the engineering culture by performing specific quality engineering assignments that are limited in scope, depth and degree of skill required. Work plans and decisions are usually reviewed by others. Duties: Learns and uses quality planning tools and analysis to formulate/facilitate quality plans for new products within the product delivery, order fulfillment or customer support processes. Learns and uses quality tools consistent with quality processes to enable the focus on prevention by identifying and performing activities to minimize risk. Investigates product and process quality related issues and recommends changes to control plans and/or prints. Gathers and analyzes data pertinent to quality tools in the Enterprise Order Fulfillment Process (EOFP), Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP) and/or Customer Support Process (CSP). Performs quality audits, including supporting International Standards Organization (ISO) audits, and maintains quality manual. Inputs and maintains information in factory databases and systems. Monitors quality plan tracking system. Assists in reviews and investigations of warranty claim information.

Quality Engineer OFP Weld

Specific Position Requirements


Must be available at 7:00 AM CST every morning for production start. Job duties: As OFP Weld Quality Engineer, you will use quality tools and processes to formulate/facilitate quality activities for current production welding departments. The deliverables of this position would align with the factory and business unit quality continuous improvement goals. In addition, you will: • Provide tactical support for issue resolution on the production floor • Facilitate FMEA's, RCAs, part inspections, and other quality processes • Track quality issues using NCCA and QIT process • Support improvement projects through continuous improvement (CI) teams • Lead containment and yard program efforts of defect identification- drive corrective actions • Encourage early issue communication to drive improvement team activities • Support cross-functional alignment across the factory on welding quality plans and requirements. Requirements: • Knowledge of drawing and schematic interpretation, weld symbols, product models (Creo), and welding standards • Knowledge of quality processes such as FMEA(Failure Modes Effect Analysis), SPC (Statistical Process Control), Root Cause Analysis and Statistics • Advanced knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) • Knowledge of manufacturing and distribution process, tooling, tool design, total preventative maintenance and facilities • Knowledge of technology developments, processes and practices • Knowledge of welding and potential defects, failure modes, and mistake proofing • Background in Manufacturing Engineering, especially Welding *Safety shoes with internal metatarsal protection. What Makes a Candidate Stand Out: • 3+ years of experience in one or more related engineering areas: industrial, production, methods, reliability, design, manufacturing or quality • Team leadership and mentoring experience • Experience with weld engineering tools, systems, and databases • Experience in use of statistical tools and techniques for quality management • Solid knowledge of problem solving methods, techniques, processes and tools and selects the right ones for complex situations and problems. • Solid experience related with Welding and manufacturing processes (2 years minimum) • Knowledge of advanced quality tools such as Design of Experiments and Regression Analysis • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) – American Welding Society. Education (or equivalent work experience): Ideally you will have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technical and/or Business Management discipline or equivalent experience.
