Responsibilities:
Develop expanding proficiency in project integration management that is the essential tool for the project manager to utilize in the delivery of the project objectives. Establish immediate proficiency and develop competence in the product life cycle components including product development, engineering and scope development, construction management, start up and testing management, product operations and product performance. Develop specific competence in SWOT management, scope and requirements planning, scope definition, WBS and WBS dictionary development wit resultant technical baseline generation. Continuously WALK PROJECTS DOWN and interface with the product customer to ensure that the projects will delivery both what they want and what they need. Establish initial proficiency and employ quality planning, quality assurance, and quality control processes to effectively monitor and control the project. Establish proficiency and employ risk management planning to identify and respond to major project risks (threats). Establish proficiency and employ procurement planning to effectively engage and align contractors and contracts to furnish services, equipment, and materials to achieve the project objectives.
Develop expanding proficiency in project cost management: Develop expanding proficiency in project schedule management: Develop expanding proficiency in NIPSCO general management skills, business planning, business case development, NIPSCO SWOT and the NIPSCO Strategic Plan. Develop expanding proficiency in NIPSCO human resource processes and skills to optimize coordination of the project management team performance and ensure optimum coordination is achieved given existing human resource policies and procedures. Use effective human resource tools and techniques to motivate and drive contractor performance. Develop proficiency in the identification, engagement, management, and control of project stakeholders. Develop proficiency in effective project communication, information management, and communication control. Understand that a project manager spends more than 90% of his/her time in some form of project communication. Develop proficiency in project governance; realizing that safety and environmental management are the two most important project objectives for all projects. The Project Manager will manage the project in accordance with industry best practices, the NIPSCO Organizational Process Assets, the Project Management Guidelines and Standards. Makes routine decisions and recommendations using established guidelines, procedures or polices. Apply Project Management proficiency and provide expanded Project Management services to the Major Projects organization. Apply PM Performance Area proficiency (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, and closure) competence along with project management knowledge area processes, tools, techniques, and project management information system (PMIS) to designated Major Projects. Apply NIPSCO general management skills and proficiency, apply a project life cycle methodology using project management performance area management, knowledge area management, project management processes, interpersonal skills, project management tools and techniques to define and achieve the project objectives.
