Job Title: Engineering Tech - Corrosion
Nature and Scope of Position
Performs design, monitoring, inspection, and paperwork related to the operation and maintenance of the Company’s cathodic protection systems. May work under the direction of like classifications but is often left to his or her own resourcefulness to accomplish the work.
Locate and monitor test stations, bonds, and rectifiers. Use Engineering records, test equipment, and other resources to troubleshoot cathodic protection systems. Design and remediate galvanic anode systems, rectified cathodic protection systems, corrosion corrections, and other corrosion related projects. Provide information and guidance related to cathodic protection systems to Company personnel, contractors, municipal representatives, external agencies, etc. Perform close interval surveys. Compile cost estimates and material requirements for corrosion projects. Input data into company record systems as required. Prepare and/or interpret field notes. Perform other duties as assigned within the classification.
Work is performed in all weather conditions and environments including high traffic urban areas as well as rural off-road areas.
One of the following is required:
- Vocational or technical training in engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience or formal training in cathodic protection systems.
- Demonstrated cathodic protection design skills gained through either experience or formal training.
- Basic Electricity
- Construction background
The successful applicant(s) must. Good computer, math, and communication skills (written and verbal). Must have a basic understanding of corrosion survey techniques. Must have a valid driver’s license and required to use a personal vehicle for Company business use. Must have an acceptable attendance and work record.
