Job Description

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry preferred
  • Experience in paint production or product development of automotive coatings, preferably automotive refinish.
  • Good laboratory skills and the ability to carry out laboratory work in a controlled environment, including proper use of a laboratory notebook to record data and observations accurately.
  • Knowledge of safe laboratory practices. Soft skills in SAP and MS office.
  • Familiar with design of experiments, control charts, statistical process control.
  • Knowledge of intellectual property protection, including proper documentation.
  • Handles obstacles in a calm and assertive way.
  • Ability to adjust to changing priorities.

Responsibilities:

  • Validate performance of coating formulations to meet established product profiles and production feasibility.
  • Interact regularly with the production staff at the various locations in N. America manufacturing REFINISH products as well as EMEA sites to solve manufacturing problems. Products could include undercoats, clearcoats, topcoats and hardeners for North American refinish market.
  • Responsible for coordination of tolling functions as they relate to product development, formulation, and quality of all tolled and outsourced products. Job will also include evaluation of tollers and outsourcers for their quality and safety performance as it reflects on Client. Will be the primary technical resource for all raw materials and technical concerns related to this line of product. Will need to interface with purchasing and logistics to provide guidance for assisting with their job functions as they relate to the tolling process.
  • This position has a direct impact on the quality and perception of Client technology, its performance and technical service expertise at customers.
  • Review product requirements and incorporate into quality system (SAP-QM)
  • This position has a direct contact with manufacturing plant and responsible to take decisions regarding adjustments and wave batches.

Comments/Special Instructions

Regular travel to Windsor Paint plant 4 times in a month and will reduce in future. Could required overnight stay.
