UPDATE/the key areas to focus on. Being able to set-up the machine, identifying correct tooling, and able to perform offsets are the biggest skills that separate this position from an entry level operator. These skills essentially make a CNC operator independent, which is what we are looking for at this level.

Position Summary: Candidate will set-up and operation multiple CNC mills simultaneously in a production environment. Check quality of finished parts. Fully understands technical drawings, revisions and note codes, uses QC info. Operate machines, and any other calibration equipment such as calipers, wrench, and air gun or any other equipment necessary to perform job functions.

Primary Functions:
1. Perform routine set-ups on production-ready parts and tool changes to execute a sequence of operations on a variety of metal components.
2. Ability to operate and set-up all machines with FANUC controls.
3. Follow procedure according to production routers
4. Can identify inserts, cutters and general tooling for specific operations
5. Interpret technical drawings in accordance with standard shop practices.
6. Conduct in-process checks and make offset adjustments to make conforming parts.
7. Deburr parts in accordance with drawing specifications
8. Ensure finished parts conformity to print or specification.
9. Perform all 5S+ activities and keep immediate work area clean and free from hazards.
10. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualification:
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent from accredited institution
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment OR completion of a machinist/CNC degree/certification.
• This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
• Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
• No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate Beltsville area (50 miles) will be considered for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:
• 3 years manufacturing experience
• 2 years of CNC experience

Position Criteria:
• Work in accordance with general safety rules and practices.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English
• Must be able to use the computer
• Read and comprehend specifications, engineering drawings and manufacturing routings
• Position requires exposure to oil, dirt, and heat
• Must wear safety glasses, ear plugs and steel toed shoes for entire shift
• Ability to stand, sit, move 8-12 hours a day
• Must be able to lift up to 35lbs on a regular basis
