Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES (SKILLS & ABILITIES):Five (5) years of progressively responsible journey/ millwright level experience. • High School diploma or equivalent • Must be available to work 12 hour day and night shifts, weekends, call-outs and overtime. 

 PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work an average of 40 hours per week, speak clearly so others understand, vision acuity for this position include close vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Acceptance of coaching and dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations, sensitivity to other’s needs, positive demeanor, and model change management for the business. Ability to climb ladders safely and use aerial equipment. Ability to lift 50 pounds on a continual basis and regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds without assistance. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand all day; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee must be agile as he/she is required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit, talk and hear.  

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Manufacturing plant is not temperature controlled; dust, fumes, and high noise areas are present inside plant areas. Noise levels exceed 80 dB in some areas of the site. Moving equipment such as fork lifts, buggies, genie booms and industrial sweepers travel throughout the facility, sometimes in congested areas.

Responsibilities:

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:The Maintenance 1st Class is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance performance on all production processes and equipment. Must possess a thorough understanding of the operation and be willing to acquire additional technical training to further enhance abilities that will meet individual and company needs.  NATURE & SCOPE OF POSITION: • This position requires the knowledge of Lubrication, Machine Shop, Fluid Power, Air Power Systems, Power Transmission, Rigging, Cutting & Welding, Project Management (CMMS), Equipment / System Operational Checks, Electrical Equipment, Preventive Maintenance, Troubleshooting Hydraulic Systems, Troubleshooting Pneumatic Systems, Pumps. • Positive working attitude toward other employees; be a team player. Work with others constructively and abide by company policies and procedures. Working together as a team for continuous improvement is vital to ensure the future of CertainTeed and its employees. Teamwork will be required to be effective in daily production assignments as well as special improvement and continuous improvement projects.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:• Demonstrate safe and proficient use of shop tools (both hand and power).• Demonstrate mechanical knowledge• Must possess demonstrated ability to safely utilize a forklift and high lift.• Must be physically capable of performing work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs.• Perform installation and maintenance work as part of a team of skilled trade workers.• Perform duties in a work environment that will be hot, cold, dirty and fast-paced.• Self-starter yet able to take orders as directed.• Other duties as assigned.
