  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Maintenance certification preferred
  • 2 years Mechanical and Maintenance experience preferred
  • 2 years of Electrical experience preferred
  • 2 year industrial and machine-tool maintenance experience Preferred

Typical plant working conditions: fast-paced environment, seasonal temperatures, noise levels, dust, and moving machinery.

Responsibilities:

GENERAL FUNCTION – State the intent and objective of the position.

Under the direction of the maintenance lead and/or the plant manager, the Maintenance Technician A performs basic electrical and mechanical repairs. This position focused on preventive and predictive maintenance practices and assists as needed with the plant operations. 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES – Indicate the main duties and responsibilities of the position and estimate the percentage of total time spent on each. Only include duties that account for at least 10% of the total time. These should be ranked by importance from most to least.

10% EHS and 5S

  • Ensure safe work environment in plant.
  • Be LOTO authorized.
  • Demonstrate active preventive engagement in EHS through performing STOP Observations and safety/environmental reporting.
  • Complete assigned monthly safety walk-through.
  • Identify, eliminate, and/or communicate any unsafe conditions.
  • Comply with all PPE requirements.
  • Comply with all CertainTeed Siding and EHS Policies.
  • Maintain and improve cleanliness of assigned work areas.

 

70% Maintenance

  • Perform a variety of tasks, which require a thorough knowledge of wiring techniques, wiring tools, and equipment.
  • Work from schematic, wiring diagrams, rough sketches, or manuals. Test various electrical circuits with a variety of test equipment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in troubleshooting 2 & 3 Phase motors.
  • Recommend and/or maintain spare parts inventory of OEM parts and supplies.
  • Assemble and/or fit together cables to form complete units.
  • Calibrate equipment in accordance to their particular specifications.
  • Gather tools and supplies to be used at work site; keep tools in proper location when not in use.
  • Check operations of machines, lubricate equipment as specified, keep machines clean, diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and make adjustments
  • Assist with moving machines within facilities that can be done with available equipment and manpower.
  • Build simple interior or exterior structures, including working from prints or drawings. Understanding of trade codes is preferred.
  • Possess a beginning knowledge of welding and cutting equipment, as well as proper operation of hand and power tools.
  • Be able to read mechanical schematics and perform basic mechanical repairs.
  • Have a working knowledge of CMMS system (SAP), being able to create and close Work Orders (WO), and identify open WO.
  • Aid and assist operations as needed.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of fluid power systems, including reading schematics.
  • Maintain forklift and manlift licenses.

 10% Skill Development

  • Participate in training regarding maintenance-related topics, including safety, electricity, fluid power, fabrication, and equipment specific training.

The Reliability Technician II will be required to identify electrical and mechanical issues with various equipment equivalent to his/her level and correct as needed.
