Successful candidate will be performing the tasks of a zOS systems programmer maintaining and upgrading the zOS Operating System and supporting users.

Client is seeking a highly experienced and self-sufficient z/OS Systems Programmer to join our Development Support team in Boulder, Colorado. This is not a role for an operator or application developer. We are looking for an expert in IBM z/OS mainframe systems—someone who can independently manage, upgrade, and troubleshoot complex system environments without relying on others for core z/OS tasks. You will be joining a small, focused team of senior technical professionals who support development engineers working across the full lifecycle of software products. This role offers immediate opportunities to contribute meaningfully to z/OS projects and to share your technical expertise.
Knowledge and skill to:
* Independently maintain, upgrade, and support IBM z/OS operating systems.
* Provide expert-level troubleshooting and resolution of system-level issues.
* Perform advanced system programming tasks including RACF administration and IBM software installations.
* Educate and assist users and team members on z/OS capabilities and best practices.
* Participate in scheduled maintenance windows, including occasional off-hours or weekend work.
Required Expertise:
* Extensive hands-on experience with z/OS systems programming (not operations or development).
* Expert knowledge and experience of:
+ Catalog management, ISPF/SDSF, z/FS, Unix System Services.
+ JES2/JES3, SYS1.PARMLIB, SYS1.PROCLIB.
+ Configuration of couple datasets.
+ RACF administration (User IDs, Groups, Certificates, Resources, KeyRings).
+ IBM software installation via ServerPac, z/OSMF, CBPDO.
+ DFSMS, DFHSM, DFDSS, DFRMM, System Logger, XCF.
+ DASD architecture, FICON/ESCON, cryptographic coprocessors, VTS.
* Proven ability to work independently and take full ownership of z/OS tasks.
* Strong communication and mentoring skills.
Preferred Skills:
* VTAM, TCP/IP, OSA
* z/VM systems programming.
* Linux on z Systems, zCX (Container Extensions).
* DS8000, FlashCopy, tape libraries.
* DFSMS ACS routine and construct management.
