Job Description
We, the Quality Team, are looking for a Technician to work onsite at one or more of our customer’s production factories. The role involves performing inspection and functional testing of our server CPU products that have failed on our customer’s production lines. The information from that inspection and testing will be captured and sent to the Quality team on a daily basis. Regular assembly, firmware updates and debugging of the test platform will be needed.
The Person:
• Ability to commute to one or more factory production facilities in the San Jose, CA area
• Organized, with attention to detail and ability to follow a defined test process
• Can work independently in a production facility with limited direct supervision
• Experience with computer system assembly, operation and troubleshooting
• Experience with ESD protocols and handling of computer processors is a plus
• Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform inspection and testing of customer CPU line rejects. The operator will receive line rejects from the customer. Each day they will log information about the rejected parts into a data capture tool, then begin inspection of each part. The inspection involves looking for physical anomalies and damage. Then the operator will follow a specific protocol to clean the part, then test it on a specialized tester looking for electrical damage. Following that, the part will be functionally tested on a provided system platform. The results of this process will be logged in the data capture tool and sent to the Quality team at the end of each day.
• Setup and Maintain test equipment. The operator will assemble a server-based computer test platform, following instructions provided by the Quality team. Qualify the test setup, then debugging issues following the team protocols. Regular updates to the test equipment (flashing BIOS, updating firmware, installing new OS).
Qualifications and Requirements:
• High school diploma required
• 2+ years of experience with PC based systems in an assembly, production or test environment
• Experience handling computer components in an ESD-safe environment
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
• Technical certification or Associates in Computer Systems preferred
