Position Overview:
The Senior Controls Technician is located in Nacogdoches, Texas. This position will work with the Controls Engineers to execute and manage projects of small to medium scope throughout the facility. The Senior Controls Technician will also provide support to the Control Techs and Production as required.
In this function you will:
• Support Engineering projects to install, maintain, test, and troubleshoot complex automated equipment
• Diagnose and resolve complex electrical/controls problems including non-routine issues
• Use Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) including basic and ladder logic to read/write basic wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints to diagnosis problems
• The position will work independently to meet project requirements with limited supervision
• Help educate lower-level technicians through on the job training as needed
• Fabricate and Install control and power panels
• Reviews diagrams, drawings and specifications for design, construction and/or alteration of instrument and control systems
• Evaluates and recommends improvements for current equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair of low voltage electrical systems (600VAC and below)
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
• 10 years of electrical and controls system fabrication, assembly, and installation or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Advanced understanding and working knowledge with the following:
o PLC based control products (PLC5, PLC 500, RSLOGIX 5000/Studio)
o VFD and DC Motor Controllers
o NFPA 70 Electrical Code and installation of conduit, wiring, etc.
o Electrical safety (Arc Flash PPE and Hazardous Locations requirements)
o electrical schematics / drawings and P&ID diagrams
• Proficient in low, medium, and high voltage troubleshooting and repair
• Observes and adheres to proper lockout/tag out of equipment and systems in accordance with policies and procedures
• Proficiency with voltmeters, ohmmeters (both analog and digital), ammeters, phase rotation meter, meggers, oscilloscopes, watt meters, loop calibrators, portable non-contact thermometers
• Excellent team working skills – demonstrated ability to work with operations groups, support groups, and engineering support staff
• Excellent planning and organizational skills
• Must be able to prioritize assignments according to business needs
Preferred Qualifications:
• SAP or similar maintenance/work management software experience a plus
• Two-Year Associate or bachelor’s degree in related field of study
• Robotics Education and/or Experience
